Research Tools 01 — Web of Science: Follow the Evidence
Web of Science: Follow the Evidence
Find a paper, then follow the research around it.
University subscriptionWeb of Science is a research platform. Its Core Collection is a selected citation database: it helps you find publications and see connections between their references and later citations.
Why does indexing matter? Clarivate evaluates journals using 24 quality criteria, including editorial practice and publication ethics. Additional impact criteria distinguish some collections. Journals can be re-evaluated and removed. These checks support standards; they do not guarantee that every paper is correct.
For a battery project, search a clear phrase such as “sodium ion battery.” Read the abstract, inspect the methods, and follow both earlier references and newer citing papers. Record your search words and date.
Remember: citation counts show attention, which can include criticism. Judge the evidence yourself. Ask your university library about access.
