Five Journal Examples: Match Your Research
Use a journal’s scope to find its intended readers.
Reading access and publication fees varyThese are five established examples across the site’s fields, not a numerical ranking. Follow each journal’s official scope before selecting a paper or planning a submission.
- Nature Materials: materials synthesis, structure, properties, and applications.
- Proceedings of the IEEE: broad reviews, surveys, and tutorials in computing and electrical engineering.
- Journal of Fluid Mechanics: theoretical, computational, and experimental fluid research.
- Nature Electronics: electronic devices, circuits, and applications.
- Nature Geoscience: Earth systems, fieldwork, modelling, and theory.
A familiar journal name is only a starting point. Read three recent abstracts. Compare their questions, methods, and audience with your study. Then check article types, submission requirements, and costs.
For example, a new experiment is not automatically suitable for a journal focused on broad tutorials. Your supervisor can help you build a realistic shortlist.
