Overleaf and LaTeX: Structure Before Styling

LaTeX is a document-preparation system that uses commands to describe structure. Overleaf provides an online LaTeX editor. These tools are especially useful for papers with equations, cross-references, and many figures.

Begin with the journal’s current official template. Replace sample content carefully. Add sections, labels, and citations before spending time on appearance. Compile often so that you can identify errors soon after they occur.

For a simple draft, Word may be easier if your team already uses it. Choose a workflow that all co-authors can review. A beautiful template cannot repair unclear reasoning.

Use meaningful figure filenames and keep source files organised. Inspect the final PDF: equations, symbols, captions, references, and page breaks all need checking.

Remember: collaboration features depend on the plan. Agree with your team on one main version of the manuscript.
