PowerPoint helps you arrange a research talk, but the scientific story comes first. Plan the question, method, main finding, limitation, and conclusion before choosing a theme.

Give each slide one main message. Instead of “Results,” try “The coating reduced heat loss under these conditions.” Show the graph that supports the statement. Explain the axes before interpreting the pattern.

Use large text, strong contrast, and sufficient empty space. Add alternative text to important visuals and check reading order. Use the Accessibility Checker, then inspect the slides yourself.

Rehearse aloud with a timer. Practise simple transitions: “Next, I will explain the test.” Keep extra technical details on backup slides for questions.

Remember: a presentation is not a manuscript pasted onto slides. A short source citation still belongs beside borrowed figures or important published findings.

Use the actual finding, for example: “Higher temperature increased resistance.” Only use this wording if the data support it.
